Description

The Dynafit Transalper 2 GORE-TEX® Mountaineering Shoe Men in Smoke Blue/Cinder is the low cut of a shoe Dynafit file under mountaineering rather than running, and the 8 mm drop is the tell: it sits between a trail shoe and an approach shoe rather than committing to either. At 350 g it is light enough to move quickly on alpine ground, and the hardware inside is what lets it hold a line once that ground turns to rock.

  • Stability Plate: the plate underfoot is what keeps the shoe from folding over an edge, which is the difference between this and a running shoe of the same weight.
  • Rockshield: protection against the point loading that comes from stepping on a single sharp stone rather than from general abrasion.
  • Heel Stabilizer: holds the rearfoot in place on loose descents where the foot wants to slide inside the shoe.
  • Vibram® Megagrip outsole: Dynafit quote 6 mm lugs. Megagrip is the compound to have when the rock is wet.
  • GORE-TEX® Invisible Fit: the membrane is bonded rather than sitting as a loose bootie, so the shoe keeps a close fit instead of the slight sponginess a lined shoe usually carries.
  • 8 mm drop: a moderate drop that suits a walking stride uphill and a braking stride down.
  • 350 g: the weight Dynafit publish. They do not state which size it refers to.
  • Medium volume fit: EU 39 to 48.5, with flat laces and an upper made with recycled content and no animal materials.
  • GORE-TEX® Invisible Fit membrane
  • Recycled content upper
