The Dynafit Transalper 2 Mid GORE-TEX® Mountaineering Shoe Men in Black Out/Cinder takes the low cut Transalper 2 and adds a mid cut collar for 10 grams, which is the whole trade. Everything below the ankle is the same shoe, so the question is simply whether you want the cuff.

• Mid cut collar: the one feature Dynafit list here that the low cut does not have, for support and coverage on rough ground.
• 360 grams: 10 g more than the low cut version. Dynafit do not state the reference size for either figure.
• Identical platform below the ankle: same 8 mm drop, same Vibram® Megagrip outsole at 6 mm lugs, same Stability Plate, Rockshield and Heel Stabilizer.
• GORE-TEX® Invisible Fit: bonded membrane construction, which matters more on a mid cut because there is more upper to line.
• Vibram® Megagrip: the wet rock compound, on a tread meant for mixed alpine ground rather than mud.
• Stability Plate: torsional resistance for the moments when the foot lands across a rock rather than on it.
• EU 39 to 48.5: medium volume fit, the same run as the low cut.
• Recycled content upper: with no animal materials used.
