The Salewa Ortles Ascent Mid GORE-TEX® is a mountaineering boot, not a hiking boot, and the distinction is in the heel: it has a rear welt for a semi automatic crampon and is rated B2. It is insulated, with a GORE-TEX® Insulated Comfort membrane, which makes it a winter and high mountain boot.
