The Salewa Wildfire Edge Mid GORE-TEX® is a technical approach shoe in mid cut, and its defining feature is the Edging Plate: a stiffening plate built in under the side of the foot and the big toe, so the shoe can stand on a small edge the way a climbing shoe does.

• Edging Plate: directional stiffness under the big toe and the inside edge, which is what separates an approach shoe from a hiking shoe.
• Switchfit system: a rear eyelet that flips the shoe between a relaxed hiking mode and a precise climbing mode.
• Pomoca Speed MTN Pro outsole in Butilic compound: a butyl rubber tuned for grip on wet and dry rock rather than for mileage.
• GORE-TEX® Extended Comfort membrane
• Upper: 1.6 mm suede upper with an Exa Shell 3D cage and 3F System on Kevlar cables
• 505 g per shoe, 11 mm drop
• Climbing lacing to the toe: the laces run right down so the forefoot can be tightened for edging.
• Colourway and sizing: Black, EU 39 to 48.5, with an integrated stretch gaiter
