The Hoka Mafate Speed 4 is a maximal cushioned trail shoe for long rough days, with a ProFly+ dual density midsole and a Vibram® Megagrip outsole on 5 mm lugs. It is the shoe for the kind of terrain where a road style trail shoe stops protecting the foot.

• ProFly+ midsole: two densities, softer at the heel for landing and firmer at the forefoot for push off.
• Vibram® Megagrip with Litebase: the grippiest of Vibram®'s common compounds, on a thinner backing to save weight.
• 5 mm lugs: deep enough for mud and soft ground, which is the Mafate's home terrain.
• Around 295 g: not light, but light for the amount of shoe underneath.
• Low drop: Hoka publish 5 mm for this shoe while most review sources measured or quote 4 mm, so treat it as a low drop shoe rather than fixing on one number.
• Upper: Recycled jacquard mesh upper with a gusseted tongue and a rubber toe cap, vegan
• Discontinued: Hoka have replaced it with the Mafate 5, so this is run out stock in this colourway.
