The Pomoca Pomocup is an electronic sensor that mounts on a ski and measures what you actually did on the skin track. It was developed with the Swiss motion analysis company Gait Up and records far more than vertical metres: it reads cadence, stride length, the proportion of glide to grip, and detects kick turns and transitions on its own.

• Electronic, not mechanical: it contains an accelerometer, a gyroscope, a barometer and a thermometer, sampling continuously while you climb.
• Mounts magnetically on the ski: held by neodymium magnets on an adhesive base plate, so it can be moved between skis.
• Beyond vertical metres: time, distance, altitude, ascent and descent, slope angle, vertical speed, plus foot cadence, stride length and glide against grip.
• Automatic detection: Detects kick turns, transitions and bootpacking automatically
• Rechargeable, around 30 hours per charge: a lithium polymer cell charged over USB.
• Discontinued: Pomoca's current catalogue is skins only and the Pomocup is no longer in it, so this is remaining stock and replacement mounting kits are not available.
